Hardy Cascapedia solgt for 600 000 kroner!

Fluesnellelegenden Hardy Cascapedia skal nå produseres igjen på fabrikken i Alnwick i England neste sesong. Som en førlansering er det det nå laget en begrenset serie og en helt spesiell modell av snellen på 150 eksemplarer. Snellen som kalles Hotspur Cascapedia Salmon Reel har gulldetaljer og emblemet til Duke of Northumberland på siden. Utenom det kommer den i et håndlaget skinnboks, har nummerering og initialene til ham som har laget snellen.     Snelle nummer 001 ble nylig auksjonert bort til den nette sum av 55 000 pund. Dette er antageligvis verdens dyreste snelle. Det var organisasjonen Atlantic Salmon Trust (som jobber for å hjelpe villaksen) som fikk inntektene. Det er første gang i Hardys historie at man har valgt å selge snelle nr 001. Alle tidligere førsteutgaver er nemlig å finne på Hardys Museum.     Snelle Nr 000 ble gitt til Prinsen of Wales, mens Nr 002 gikk til Hans Majestet Kong Harald den 5. av Norge. Den neste 147 (unntatt den siste som nå er å finne på Hardy sitt museum) ble lagt ut for salg til samlere. De heldige har betalt omtrent 14 000 for et slikt eksemplar. For oss mer normale laksefiskere kan jeg nevne at den helt vanlige modellen blir å finne hos de Norske Hardy forhandlerne neste sesong. Den oppgraderte Cascapedian blir da altså produsert i England i klassisk utførelse men med oppgradert kvalitet.     THE ONLY REEL WITH SERIAL NUMBER 001 TO BE RELEASED FOR GENERAL SALE IN 180 YEARS. William de Percy, a descendant of Viking raiders, left Normandy with William the Conqueror and started a dynasty in the north of England. In 1309 his descendants bought Alnwick Castle and, 708 years later, Percy’s continue to live there and play a major role in the town of Alnwick. In 1837 Hardy Brothers set up their now famous fishing rod and tackle manufacturing business and, since then, Hardy’s have played an equally important role in Alnwick. The present head of the Percy family, the 12th Duke of Northumberland, a keen angler, has now teamed up with Hardy’s to help design a very special limited edition reel to commemorate the Percys’ 950th Anniversary.     The Reel – The Hotspur Cascapedia – SALMON #10 Aptly named after Harry ‘Hotspur’, Alnwick’s great medieval hero, the reel frame is based on the iconic original Cascapedia design of 1930-31. It features a superlative fully functioning drag system and a resonating classic click check sound. Decorated with the lion crest and colours of the Percy family, the new Hotspur Cascapedia is 001 of only 150 to be reels made in the Hardy factory, Alnwick. The reel sits protected in a full leather hard reel case made exclusively by Pringle of Scotland encased commemorative outer presentation box. A final homage to the Percy family, we have included 6 hand tied “Hotspur” Salmon flies bearing the colours of the famous knight, designed, developed (and tested) by the Duke of Northumberland’s North Tyne ghillie, Mr Gerald Binovec. Notably, this is the first-time Hardy have released a 001-numbered reel to the public.
